Eloine is a low-dose combined contraceptive pill containing ethinylestradiol and drospirenone. Designed to prevent pregnancy, it is 99% effective when taken correctly. The low dose of oestrogen reduces the risk of side effects, making it a suitable option for women sensitive to higher-dose contraceptive pills.
Eloine works by releasing hormones that prevent ovulation and alter the uterine lining to inhibit egg implantation. The 24 active pink tablets contain hormones, while the 4 white inactive tablets allow for a withdrawal bleed, mimicking a natural menstrual cycle.
Follow the guidance of your GP, pharmacist, and instructions.
Active Ingredients are Ethinylestradiol and drospirenone.
Side effects include:
In rare cases, blood clots may occur, and Eloine has a slightly higher risk of clots than other contraceptive pills. If you have concerns, consult your healthcare provider.
1. How should I take Eloine?
Take one tablet daily at the same time each day for 28 days, following the pack’s arrows. Begin a new pack immediately after completing the previous one.
2. What happens if I miss a pill?
If you miss one of the 4 white tablets, discard it. If you miss a pink active tablet, take it as soon as you remember if it's less than 24 hours late. For more detailed instructions, consult the patient leaflet.
3. Can Eloine stop my periods?
Yes, it is possible to delay periods by taking two packs of Eloine back-to-back.
4. Can I use Eloine while breastfeeding?
It is not advised to start taking Eloine until 6 weeks after childbirth if you are breastfeeding.
5. Will Eloine affect my weight?
There is no evidence to suggest that Eloine directly affects weight, though some may experience changes due to fluid retention.
